Re: [-empyre-] Profile of the Brazilian cirtic Mario Schenberg

Dear regina, dear all,

Not an easy question !

In the citation, Lévi-Strauss links scientific thought with
perception and imagination.
I remember an interview with Pierre-Gilles de Gennes
(french scientist, physic nobel price 1991). He explained that
"observation" (to look at plants, to find fossils,...)
is a key formation for pupils (thinking in term
of future scientists). He also claimed the absurdity of
formular to fill in to get subventions. The bureaucracy expects
a description of the research results. For Pierre-Gilles de Gennes,
if you are searching it means you don't know precisely what
you will get ! (sounds logical, isn't it?)
(I tried to get out his original words, but I didn't find
what I expected. So I hope to be near to what he said)

In the case of art I would say that senses are requested.
(sensitive).
For a long period of time IQ was the only and absolute measure of
someone's capacity.
In between the EQ is more and more important.

Very often when I begin a work, I don't know exactly what
I will get. Perhaps I'm also searching with my
"perception and imagination".

Best

Isabel
